2010 OAH LIBERTY LEGACY FOUNDATION AWARD

Home

Inspired by OAH President Darlene Clark Hine's call in her 2002 OAH presidential address for more research on the origins of the civil rights movement in the period before 1954, the Liberty Legacy Foundation Award is given for the best book on any historical aspect of the struggle for civil rights in the United States from the nation's founding to the present.

Each entry must be published during the period January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009.  One copy of each entry must be received by each committee member by October 1, 2009.  Final page proofs may be used for books to be published after October 1, 2009 and before January 1, 2010. If a final page proof is submitted, a bound copy of the entry must be received no later than January 7, 2010.  No late submissions will be accepted. If a book carries a copyright date that is different from the publication date, but the actual publication date falls during the correct time frame making it eligible, please include a letter of explanation with each copy of the book sent to committee members.

The award will be presented at the 2010 annual meeting of the OAH in Washington, DC, April 7-10. One copy of each entry, clearly labeled "2010 Liberty Legacy Foundation Award," must be mailed directly to:
